Lifestyle (often referred to as "life & style" in my lexicon) will almost always meet athleticism, aesthetics and creativity at an intersection crucial to the core of who I am personally. My athletic culture and the principals of strength, form, function and the efficiency of motion are really the impetus for most everything I do—from being a former world class athlete, to my Masters training, coaching and even in my profession as a creative consultant & designer.
The RDQLUS GOODS & CLOTH "Sortie" Tactical Transport Pack was a hit. Thanks to those who were able to get their hands on the limited run pack.
In collaboration with the team from LOCKR Inc., I am proud to present "The Heritage Collection"; gear with a mind on the message, while feeling fashionable. The idea behind it all is that the work you put in cannot all be just stats, numbers and rankings.
I am a "puzzlist" (new word, you're welcome). I have a compulsion to solve for (x), find & place the pieces that show the bigger picture. If I pick up a new project or I want to learn a new technique, I'm not picking up a new hobby or tinkering; I am legitimately trying to solve a problem—even if that solution (x) is my own curiosity.
Put on hiatus a couple of years back as the refocusing of the parent brand RDQLUS CREATIVE was sharpened, the intent was (and is) always to keep the pulse and revive the popular "GOODS & CLOTH" imprint with precise timing… and that time is now.
Late last year, a youth sports organization approached RDQLUS CREATIVE to revamp their team logo for the coming season's new gear. Well, of course I couldn't leave well enough alone—I explained the importance of building a brand, and asked that if they trusted me and desired so, could I give them something a bit more collegiate that the kids and parents could rock as proudly as the Division-1 university teams in our town? They let me run with it, and I was all too happy to hold up my end of that bargain.
Remember that brilliant idea they came up with in that last meeting? That great direction that seemed to be a lightning bolt of genius at zero-hour to save the project? When was your meeting, again? Oh, okay… they asked me to meet with them the day before. You're welcome. (Yeah… it's like that.)
Shhhhhhhh... Just enjoy the Force. Feel free to pull your fave image to use as mobile or desktop wallpapers—or to just frame it on your mantle next to the family portrait.
One of the most long-standing RDQLUS projects has entered its most crucial phase; the implementing of the plan and putting the brand story & creative into action. The brand story behind "Highlander" is the raising of the level, and the idea that a rising tide does indeed lift all boats.
In an article I recently contibuted to "We Don't Coast" blog, I talk about hip hop artist Murs and how he shows respect for the fact that everyone is local somewhere—everywhere.
