In an article I recently contibuted to "We Don't Coast" blog, I talk about hip hop artist Murs and how he shows respect for the fact that everyone is local somewhere—everywhere.
At random today, I would find myself with the biggest smile on my face and my eyes welling up—here's why; I stopped by my bank to deposit a large check, and order some personal checks. It was a complicated deposit that I needed to split but I couldn't get a cashier check until the funds cleared tonight. So no biggie, I'll do it tomorrow. As the staff kindly did their business, I bantered politely with the nice lady being helped just next to me. That's when things got interesting…
Sure, it's a bit unfair for me to give a tech assessment because I'm biased; I'm still that kid who geeks out on all things gadget. But in this case it goes a step further. This is a tool—the ultimate tool. I don't think I will do anything new with it, but rather I believe that it puts what I already do in a different light and context. For instance, I'm writing this post directly to my site, on my couch, in my pad, on my pad. Yeah. This is a tool—the ultimate tool. In the late-90s and early 2000s, I was a world-class track & field athlete, earning world & U.S. national rankings, and two NCAA national championships. Yet, I was without championship rings to commemorate what I had earned. Through the years, I had vowed to design my own someday… and that day came.
Two RDQLUS clients converge on a development project that will see a much needed revitalization of the Downtown & Midtown corridors of North Omaha. 75North Revitalization has spearheaded a project to bring a planned "purpose-built" community, complete with high-end housing of all styles and price ranges to North Omaha. The name of the development is "HIGHLANDER."
Working with my friend Dave Koenig is always a pleasure. When he came to me in need of branding due to the growth of his business endeavors as a tattooist and fine artist—needless to say, I was already on board. Find out more in 'Featured Projects'.
To "reach" is to span a distance between from one point to another with purpose and intent of connection. It also means to come to an intended end or result. Such is the case with a new initiative originated by the Greater Omaha Chamber to provide aid to small and emerging businesses, connecting these small companies, firms and contractors to larger projects and opportunities vital to their businesses and even more vital to the growth of underserved communities. I was brought in as a creative consultant to apply the RDQLUS "Art of Storytelling" to connect the core mission to the front-facing messaging and branding.
It was a huge honor to get the call to consult with FCA for the re-design of their new site. Bringing brand development expertise & creative direction to bear for the well-known faith-based organization—now in its 60th year—was a big honor. Read more about it in 'Featured Projects'.
"STRIDE & STANCE" is to be an ongoing review of life & style from a truly athletic standpoint—giving credence to both sides of the isle. No, we athletes are not all sweaty gym-rats with ripped clothing and protein drink cans strewn about. Nor are we fluffy gym bunnies, strolling around the facility as if it's a nightclub to pick up a date. Athletes like to challenge themselves, strive for fitness, we want our gear to work (and work well) and yes—at the end of it all, we love to look damn good doing all of the above.
